The Revelation of Christ
The trials and persecution we encounter in this life serve the purpose of glorifying God in us and in His church. We can choose to find our way out of a trial to escape the buffeting to our flesh or we can allow God to take us through it so we can be counted worthy to fellowship in His suffering and be counted worthy to be one of the believers He will reveal Himself in.
Relax in the Seed
An acorn doesn’t look like it has the power of the mighty oak, but it does. When we’re born again, God put the incorruptible seed of His Son in us – and it doesn’t look like we’re like Him – but we are. When we get religious and set lofty goals for ourselves, our efforts steal our peace. It is impossible to bring forth what we think God wants in our own power. We need to…
Hid, Dead, & Safe!
It takes faith to receive the meat of the Word, even if we don’t see it. Colossians 3 tells us that our flesh died at Calvary with Jesus. It takes faith to receive that when we see anger, wrath and malice in our lives. In God’s view, the flesh was dealt with on the Cross of Calvary. The Word of God is for application in our life so we become something that glorifies God…
The Seed of the Father
As we look at the relationship between Isaac and his first son, Ishmael, we are reminded that God does not allow the works of the flesh to supersede His promises.
Getting Rid of Precious
The Gospel of the Kingdom means that Jesus is the King. If He is the King, then he must be obeyed, even when obedience to Him is costly to our flesh man (“precious”). Every Christian must choose whether to obey the King or obey “precious”. God is looking for people who love Him more than the world, more than their emotions, more than their own will.
A Heart Set Free
Four women are named in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1. They aren’t the four women we’d expect to find in the King’s lineage, yet each one is remembered and honored by God. Each woman’s story reminds us that God is not interested in seeing people build names for themselves in His kingdom, but in seeing people who value the truth, the seed of life, and who want to…
God’s Amnesty Plan
If we base our understanding of God’s promise to have a spotless bride on the knowledge of good and evil, we will end up forsaking His way of keeping that promise and set about to accomplish it in our own strength because it takes faith to believe that God can really conform us to His image on the earth. God’s salvation is about amnesty for the world, an indwelling Lord…
We Are His Workmanship
Christianity is not a self-help religion but many Christians approach it that way. Find out whether you are behaving as God’s workmanship or your own workmanship.
Mathew 5: Blessings
In the Beatitudes, God provides us with an understanding of our Christian walk and the way we progress in the Spirit. It starts with amnesty and it ends with amnesty; as His grace changes us it also changes how we treat others. The Sermon on the Mount challenges us to be honest about how well we truly rest in Jesus as our Sabbath.
Jacob
In the final study of the three patriarchs, we come to a central concept of Christianity: “Having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3). God shows us, through Jacob’s life, that part of our walk when God most fully reveals Himself to us as the Lord and the Potter.
